Shane van Gisbergen entered 2019 looking to reclaim the Supercars title, battling against the dominant new Ford Mustang. He delivered Holden’s first victory of the season at Symmons Plains and added wins at Townsville and Pukekohe, where he also claimed the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy in front of his home crowd.

Partnering Garth Tander, van Gisbergen finished second at Bathurst before the pair won on the Gold Coast. He ended the season runner-up in the championship with five victories, 12 podiums and four poles, while also receiving his first Barry Sheene Medal.
