Jamie Whincup 2017 Race Worn Suit
A Record Breaking Season
Jamie Whincup's 2017 season was defined by consistency, resilience and execution. Facing fierce competition throughout the year, Whincup relied on experience and composure, consistently banking valuable championship points and minimising costly mistakes as he pursued a record-breaking seventh Supercars crown.
The championship reached an extraordinary conclusion at Newcastle. Whincup arrived with a 30-point lead, only for opening-lap contact with Michael Caruso on Saturday to damage his suspension and leave him 21st, turning that advantage into a 78-point deficit heading into Sunday's decider.
Whincup responded by winning the final race, while Scott McLaughlin's day unravelled with three separate penalties. The extraordinary turnaround handed Whincup the championship by just 21 points and, with it, a historic seventh Supercars Drivers' Championship — surpassing his childhood hero Mark Skaife's six titles and making Whincup the most successful championship-winning driver in Australian touring car history.
The Piece
Authentic. Limited. Yours.
This is an original, autographed race suit worn by Jamie Whincup during his 2017 championship winning season.
As an authentic, race-used component, this piece may display marks, wear, damage or other imperfections consistent with its use in competition. These characteristics form part of its history and provenance.
The zipper on this race suit is no longer functional; however, this does not affect how the suit can be displayed, as the Velcro closure remains fully functional. We believe the zipper may have succumbed to Whincup’s memorable post-championship celebrations, which included jumping into a fountain before backflipping from a boat into Newcastle Harbour.
Additional on-track and season imagery is included to provide context and illustrate the provenance and racing history of the piece. Studio photography shows the actual item available for purchase.
The Display
The suit is presented in Red Bull Ampol Racing gift box with a unique 'Scan for Provenance' QR code, providing permanent access to its official story, race history and digital authentication directly from Triple Eight Race Engineering.
A second Provenance sticker is included should you decide to frame your suit or display it on a mannequin, allowing you to keep its unique provenance close to hand.
