100th Race Win Claimed in 2016

Jamie Whincup entered 2016 determined to reclaim the Supercars title, winning the opening race in Adelaide and remaining a championship contender throughout the season. A major milestone came at Sydney Motorsport Park, where he claimed his 100th Supercars race victory, becoming only the second driver after Craig Lowndes to reach the mark.

Whincup and Paul Dumbrell dominated much of the Bathurst 1000, but a late penalty dropped them to 11th despite crossing the line first. Whincup finished the season with five victories and runner-up in the championship behind teammate Shane van Gisbergen, setting the stage for his record-breaking seventh title in 2017.
